Travel Tip TIme: Travel Journals

I know I've talked about travel journals before and how much I value them and think they are a wonderful momento and resource to have so I won't go into that again.

BUT, my travel tip today is to keep a travel journal while you travel.  I always keep one and often have a nice notebook that I record several trips in although I have bought journals specific to travelling before as well and they worked just as well.

Today I am sharing a couple of ways you can journal.

I always encourage my kids to journal at least some part of our holidays and on our last big trip overseas I made them these journals.  I bought an A5 sketchbook from Big W and covered it in fabric.  They were able to write in it as well as stick in tickets etc.  There is also room left in these books for more trips.

On another trip to Fiji I made them a simple book by buying an exercise book from the newsagent and covering it with some paper and stickers.  You can see a blog post about them here and a picture of them is below.

This trip Emma found a travel journal in Smiggle that she really liked so we have decided that she will be taking that one away.  The good thing is it has lots of sections she can tick and list and draw so the writing won't be so tedious for her.  The link to all the information is here.

I also found via Pinterest a printable page that you can use to make your own travel journal for the kids which is very tempting for Nathan because it doesn't need much writing (he really doesn't like to write much while we are away).  It looks like this and the link is here.

As for me I have a journal that is not full yet so I will continue to write in it.  It is just a A5 notebook that I picked up in Typo.

Last trip I did have a specific journal though which was also from Typo and looked like this:

You can also read about my journal idea of collecting postcards as you travel here.

Travel Tip Time: In case you lose the kids!

When travelling with kids you are always extra cautious.  I always make sure I pay extra and take the 'well known tour' etc. because I need to make sure that we are really safe because we have the kids.    Losing the kids is always a big worry, especially when you travel to places that are crowded or if you have a child like me who likes to wander off!

So I have found something which I think is great so I am sharing it here.

Temporary tattoos that are custom made for you!  How good is that?  You put them on your kids, they can come off easily when you don't need them and if the kids get lost if someone finds them they can then find you.  You can order them HERE.

I haven't ordered mine for our upcoming trip yet but I will be soon.  I am actually still deciding what to put on mine.  Do you have any ideas?  We are going to be in Asia, visiting 4 different countries.  We won't have our mobile phones on global roaming due to the fees.  So what number do we put on our tattoos?  I'm thinking my sisters phone number back home as she will know our itinerary and where to contact us.  Can you think of a better solution?  Please let me know if you can.  If not I may have to succumb to taking the mobile phone.

Anyway I hope this tip helps you.  These are even great to have for trips you do from home like to the beach or museum or anywhere really.
